Peter Van Gelderen,
General Partner, CIO
Peter has worked in cleantech-related sectors (energy, waste, water and materials) for over 10 years as a researcher in nanotechnology at Philips and strategy consultant for Deloitte Consulting. At Icos Capital, Peter is active in waste recyling, green materials, food and energy technologies. In this capacity he is involved with i-RES, Ensartech, Microdish and BioActor.
As part of the team for the Energy & Utility sectors at Deloitte, Peter advised major renewable sector players such as SITA/Suez and Essent/RWE on their expansion strategy, M&A, and JV assignments, which included numerous strategic market and technology assessments as well as business planning. Peter contributed substantially to the revision of the business strategy of several of these companies in response to new market developments such as, technology innovation and renewable energy.
Starting his career in the research laboratories at Philips in 1995, he specialized in solid state physics and materials science. The major findings of his research were published in seven issues of the Physical Review and Physical Review Letters, leading journals in the field.
Both Peter and Nityen advised the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs on innovation policy in relation to highly innovative, fast-growing companies in the Netherlands prior to founding Icos Capital.
Peter received his PhD from Nijmegen University in nanotechnology and has a Master's in theoretical physics. He is fluent in English, Dutch, and German.
Peter brings to Icos Capital his expertise in nanotechnolology, material science and bio-technology; energy and secondary raw materials (water and raw materials) sectors. In his capacity as CIO, Peter is focused on development of investment strategy and planning to optimize returns of funds under management at Icos Capital.
