Greenclouds has developed a solution that significantly lowers the huge power consumption and CO2 emission at data centers, which - on average - use less than 30% of their capacity while servers are running all the time. CORE BUSINESS PROPOSITION
- Aggregation and orchestration of existing IT over capacity into en integrated cloud environment that will substantially increase utilization in data centers, decrease energy usage and CO2 emissions
- Cloud computing: The delivery of software, infrastructure, and storage over the Internet (either as separate components or a complete platform) based on user demand
- Bringing supply and demand of existing IT capacity together on a technical, operational and commercial level
BUSINESS STATUS
- Launch planned in 1st semester 2011 with major managed service providers and end customers in the Netherlands
SUSTAINABILITY PROPOSITION
- In the Netherlands alone it is estimated that approximately 400,000 servers are currently installed. An estimated 5-10% of the associated compute capacity is effectively used. Even if one would take a safety margin of 100%, only 80,000 servers are required to cope with the total ICT workload in the Netherlands. This means that 320,000 servers could be made redundant or be integrated into a Cloud environment of Greenclouds
- The carbon emission associated with this unused capacity is approximately 766.000 tons per year in the Netherlands. On a worldwide level the economic loss is 140 Billion Euro annually
